Although the fall live events have been cancelled, it’s awesome that virtual events are still being held. It is always really interesting to hear the thoughts of experts about the current status of battery industry and learn about new innovations.
This year, the AABC (Advanced Automotive Batteries Conference) US conference was arranged as a completely virtual conference: three full days of conference program included presentations, wrap-up discussions, tutorials, poster presentations, virtual expo, roundtable discussions, and possibilities for networking. Our Senior Battery Scientist Kirsi Jalkanen (PhD) attended the conference as well and she praised this year’s content. Here are Kirsi´s picks on the most interesting topics of the conference.
“One of the conference symposia was dedicated to battery intelligence, emphasizing the value of collected data and the possibilities one has in utilizing it throughout the battery value chain. Usage of artificial intelligence and machine learning was covered from accelerated and efficient
screening of new materials till optimizing usage strategies, such as fast-charging protocols, and predicting battery lifetime. In battery chemistry side, one of the big topics were solid state batteries and lithium metal anodes. In addition to different material solutions, the road towards manufacturing and usage of these technologies in EV cells was discussed in several contributions. A common emphasis in all conference program was battery safety. With several recalls in EV industry lately and the increasing battery energy densities, this topic was stressed in many contexts, such as in the material selection. Excellent news for Europe is the forecast significant growth of the EV market and the cell production capacity.”
We at Akkurate are strongly involved in developing these same topics. Our DIAGNOSE software helps companies to make better use of the performance of their batteries. Efficient use of batteries brings savings to the company and helps maximize financial benefits. DIAGNOSE also contributes to the safe use of batteries and help prevent accidents and long service breaks.
Would you like to test DIAGNOSE? Leave your contact information on the front page, we will arrange a demo with you.
